Vinyl Vice
Vinyl Vice is an independent dance music record label based in Birmingham, England. The label intends to focus on some of the finest quality underground house, not only from the UK but all over the world. Vinyl Vice was formed in the winter of 2001, when Imran Zahroof approached Paul Rudd with an idea. .
Originating and living close to Birmingham city centre the pair knew each other through their work. They regularly bumped into each other at work, whilst on different shifts for the maintenance at Land Rover, Solihull. The lads were always discussing what, who, and where they has been the previous weekend. Arranging the next weekend.
Before the compilation cd's came along, the boys were always swapping old mix tapes of their favourite dj's. Sasha, Digweed, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman etc. They used to meet in the car park to discuss the new must have tune. They linked up in 1998 when co-incidentally their working patterns became the same. They decided to share a lift back and forward to work. This gave the boys plenty of time to listen, talk, listen, talk about the music, their own mix's, and the whole scene that they had a burning passion for. After getting fed up with pimping their progressive house/breaks music style around the blinkered attitudes of Birmingham night life, it was decided to focus their attention on opening Vinyl Vice.
Imran (Dj Impy) has had his decks for approximately 10 years, with Paul mixing it up for around 6 years. Saturday afternoon's soon became sacrilegious, we were on a mission to find the "feeling". Any one who goes out vinyl shopping will understand the "feeling". When you just can not fight the "feeling" any longer, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and dive straight into the groove.
After 3 years of working towards their dream, they are now ready to release their first 12", with two more in the pipeline
